What I wish I could have told myself before my fitness journey

There’s so much I wish I could’ve said to myself back then. When it came to weight loss, sure, it was all about daily activity and calories—keeping things simple. But that was just the surface. If I could’ve looked myself in the eye and said everything I know now, here’s what I would’ve told myself:

“This is going to be fun. Seriously, get excited. You’re not just about to lose weight; you’re about to do something you’ve never done before. You’re about to blow your own mind. You’re about to unlock parts of yourself you didn’t even know existed. You’re about to exceed every expectation you’ve ever placed on yourself. You’re going to change in ways you can’t even imagine.

You’re about to tap into strength you didn’t even know you had—physically, mentally, and emotionally. You’re going to inspire others just by being you. People are going to see your light and think, If he can do it, so can I. You’re about to learn to love yourself in a way that goes so much deeper than appearance. You’re going to fall in love with life again, like a kid who just discovered how to ride a bike. You’ll laugh louder, move freer, and carry yourself like the confident, unstoppable force you’ve always been.

The best part? This journey will give you control of your life—not just your body, but your mindset, your habits, and your future. You’ll believe in things you once thought impossible. You’ll see that failure was never a roadblock; it was a stepping stone. You’ll break through limits and leave statistics in the dust. You’ll prove to yourself that you’re capable of anything. And guess what? You’re going to love your ‘dad bod,’ but not in the way people joke about—it’ll be the best body you’ve ever had, full of life, energy, and vigor.

Your purpose will grow. You’ll touch lives in ways you never thought possible. You’ll spread love and faith like wildfire, just by showing up as yourself. And life? It’s going to be spectacular. Beyond anything you can imagine right now. Trust me, it’s worth every single step.”

Looking back, maybe if I had told myself all that, I wouldn’t have waited as long as I did. But sometimes, it’s those deep desires end up driving you to finally follow through. And that’s what it’s all about—following through. Believing in yourself enough to take the leap.

The imaginary perfect time never comes. The perfect time is whenever you start. Whenever you decide to go for it. Because if you knew it was going to be this exciting, if you knew it was going to be the best decision you ever made, would you still hesitate? And it doesn’t have to be fitness. It just has to be your thing. That thing deep inside you that’s calling your name.

Here’s a quote that just came to me. I don’t know if it’s mine, but I’m giving it to you.

Fear is really scared of you!

I’m Cornelius

A few years ago, right before the “pandemic” I experienced a mindset shift that turned what could have been a midlife crisis into a midlife transformation for the better. What started out as a quest for happiness, ended up unlocking a key to freedom-true freedom. I realized that the greatest transformations start from within. By embracing self love. I reshaped my body and redefined my life and sense of purpose.
