This is my version of catching lightning in a bottle. Well, a song. My whole life I have been an artist and a bedroom producer. The first rap song I ever actually put out was B.A King.
In B.A. King, I wanted to capture what it means to truly take ownership of your life. The song is about stepping into your power. It is about recognizing that no one else can crown you. You have to do that for yourself. It’s about being accountable, following your heart, and embracing your purpose with confidence.
Every line in the song reflects the journey of self-realization. It shows resilience. It highlights the importance of claiming your role as the leader of your own life.
I use the imagery of a king, queen, or leader. This imagery can be substituted for any goal you have in life. The message remains the same for fitness, creativity, or personal development. Follow your inner voice. Lead your journey. You already have everything you need to reach your goals—it’s about stepping into that role and owning it fully.
What makes this song special is that the lyrics are meant to empower you as you sing along. It’s rap, but there’s no mumbling here. Each line reinforces the idea that you’re in control of your own destiny. By vocalizing these words, you’re reminding yourself of your inner strength and ability to rise above any challenge.
I hope these words inspire you. See yourself in a new light. Remember that you’re more than capable of being the king (or queen) of your own journey.
Lyrics
Hook:
If you going to be a king
then go on be a king
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
And
If you going to be a queen
then go on be a queen
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Verse 1:
With another breath blessed I continue to be,
Key to any lock that’s been imprisoning me,
Giving my whole heart as it continues to beat,
I capture feelings with the pen as it bleeds,
Beat making I suppose, nah I compose,
Two decades on this road, never drove until I chose,
Can’t stop digging 3 ft from the gold,
I’d rather do what I was meant to,
than do what I was told,
Yesterday is gone,
Tomorrow is unknown,
Right now it is on,
New mind I’m reborn,
Being for my purpose re-gifting what I’ve been shown,
See it because you’re worthy and feel it like you belong,
Tell my younger brother go on and give them Curtis C,
Remind my older brother that he’s stronger than me,
Tell my old partner “man It’s all how you think,
You’re more than a Pauper go on be a king.”
Hook:
If you going to be a king
then go on be a king
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
And
If you going to be a queen
then go on be a queen
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Verse 2:
Ask me how I keep the fire burning?
How can I take credit for something that is eternal?
Accepting what was already given is how you earn it,
Even from the ashes of crashes I keep learning,
Then leave my yesterdays in the past I ain’t concerned with,
Rehashing the tragic the magic is in my purpose
Recalibrating your navigation in my verses,
Something needed like nurses,
Deep under your surface,
I service your inner furnace,
Getting across to stop begging and claim,
See yourself in the light
the world reflection will change,
Stop deflecting the cause and start accepting the blame,
As long as it’s on them
Keep expecting the same
So if you’re going to be a king
then go on be a king
If you didn’t follow your heart then it don’t mean a thing
If it didn’t follow your heart then it don’t mean a thing
If you don’t follow your heart then it don’t mean a thing
Hook:
If you going to be a king
then go on be a king
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
And
If you going to be a queen
then go on be a queen
Yeah yeah
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Can’t be waiting for nobody to crown you
Meaning and Message
At this point in my life, I was going through a deep spiritual transformation. After years of living with anxiety and fears, I finally felt powerful and unstoppable. The power of “God in Me”. So much was shifting within me, and I had to find a way to capture that feeling. Music has always been my first love. I finally had a clear goal. I didn’t know where it would lead, but I knew I had to get the message out. I had to share that energy with the world.
That was 2020, now I realize this way of thinking had everything to do with my transformation—both physically and mentally. My health journey, I lost 80 pounds and got ripped after 40! I didn’t just change the outside. I went through what I call an intra-conversion. These are the internal transformations. They happen when you shift your mindset. You then focus on real Self-Love and appreciation of everything. When you change from the inside, everything on the outside follows.
Capturing the power of intra-conversions—that inner shift that makes everything else possible. My personal life, finances, and spiritual growth all improved because I had learned how to align with that energy. I paused friendships that weren’t working for me anymore. I lost my job after 12 years of service. But through it all, I felt a sense of love and purpose guiding me forward.
That’s what B.A. King represents. It’s about stepping into your power. Recognize that if you’re going to be a king (or queen), you can’t wait for someone to crown you. You have to make it happen. It’s about claiming your life, taking ownership, and being responsible for your own journey. This song is my main message. It captures the essence of IntraConversions.com, this website. The inner transformation that leads to lasting change.
I hope it inspires others, just like it changed things for me.
I encourage you to listen. I have a decent flow honestly! Old school in the pocket. And there’s a nice uplifting beat behind it. Produced and written by yours truly.
