Navigating Life’s ‘Flat Tires’: Stay Positive

Ever had a flat tire on your car? It sucks in the moment, but it doesn’t ruin your life. It’s just a problem that needs attention and a solution, hopefully in a timely manner. Sometimes, on our fitness journeys, we hit our own version of a flat tire — maybe it’s an injury or hitting a plateau. If you’re not mindful of your attitude, these moments can spiral out of control quickly.

This is where faith and trust come in — faith in God, in the process, and in your body. Whatever happened, your body is already at work to repair it. Sometimes we need a little help from doctors, but even without intervention, your body is already on the job. And so is God — He’s already working to fix the problem. It’s already in the process of being healed. Now is the time to support that process with a positive attitude and self-love.

You have to believe that things are already working in your favor. Often, what feels like a bad circumstance is just a matter of perspective. Maybe you’re tired, in a bad mood, or just hangry, but there are always blessings to be found. Gratitude is the best attitude, and I like to say that the “gr” in gratitude stands for “gift realizing.” This mindset opens your eyes to the gifts you already have and the ones you’re working towards.

Spend a few minutes focusing on those good feelings, and you’ll notice the pain starts to fade. With your worries and fears set aside, your body can do what it needs to do without distraction. Some people say, “It could always be worse,” but I like to say, “It’s not that bad. Actually, things are pretty good, and this one little setback won’t stop me.”

Sometimes, you have to pump yourself up and toot your own horn to get through tough times. Hear the crowds cheering for you in your mind. Your imagination is a powerful tool, and it can be used for good. Maybe I sound a little like a hippie, but sometimes you just need to create some good vibes for yourself. Those good vibes can fuel your healing.

The main thing to remember is this: flats get patched, and fast. You can be your own Fix-a-Flat with a good attitude. The little things that come up will pass quickly, and soon enough, you won’t even remember they happened.

I’m Cornelius

A few years ago, right before the “pandemic” I experienced a mindset shift that turned what could have been a midlife crisis into a midlife transformation for the better. What started out as a quest for happiness, ended up unlocking a key to freedom-true freedom. I realized that the greatest transformations start from within. By embracing self love. I reshaped my body and redefined my life and sense of purpose.
